Monitor test

1. Physical & Connection Check

  • Make sure power cable is connected securely.

  • Ensure video cable (HDMI, DisplayPort, VGA, DVI, USB-C) is plugged in properly.

  • Try another video cable or port to rule out cable/port issues.

  • Test the monitor on a different PC or laptop.


2. Basic Display Test

These sites help test:

  • Color accuracy

  • Brightness/contrast

  • Dead pixels

  • Backlight bleeding

  • Refresh rate & motion blur


3. Windows Built-In Display Test

On Windows:

  1. Right-click desktop → Display Settings

  2. Check:

    • Resolution

    • Refresh rate (under Advanced Display)

    • Multiple monitor setup


4. Look for Problems

  • Dead pixels: Tiny black/white/red spots.

  • Color banding: Poor color gradients.

  • Ghosting or tearing: Blurred or torn images in motion.

  • Flickering or lines: May indicate hardware or power issue.


5. Advanced Tools

If needed:

  • Dead pixel checker: Tools like “InjuredPixels” or websites.

  • Color calibration: Use software like DisplayCAL or built-in Windows color calibration.
